As a Medical Assistant III (MA 3) with our Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Clinic, you will provide patient care support to a multidisciplinary team of physicians. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient flow management, from registration to discharge, ensuring an efficient and smooth outpatient experience that promotes optimal patient satisfaction and clinic operations. As a Medical Assistant, you will be expected to recognize normal and abnormal clinical signs and symptoms, as well as respond appropriately to life-threatening emergencies. You will deliver direct patient care to a diverse patient population within the clinic, collaborating with clinic management, administration, physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, nursing staff, patient services personnel, and other ancillary staff. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing medication refill requests, completing patient disability paperwork, managing patient phone inquiries, scheduling appointments, obtaining insurance authorizations, maintaining inventory of clinic supplies, and provide cross-coverage for other members of the Clinical Neurophysiology team as needed.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate from a secondary, post secondary or adult education program.
  • BLS certificate from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Proficiency in measuring vital signs, including blood pressure and temperature.
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomatology and life-threatening medical problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals with compassion.
  • Familiarity with EPIC (EHR/EMR system) is preferred.

Responsibilities
