Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant (AAMA certification preferred)
• Medical terminology knowledge required

Responsibilities

• Work with providers to room office visit patients, greeting them, taking vitals, entering history in the EMR, and updating medication lists.
• Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with medical supplies.
• Assist providers with rectal exams and hemorrhoid banding procedures.
• Perform testing such as Fibroscans, bone density, and breath tests.
• Handle prior authorizations for medication and infusion drugs.
• Maintain logs for expiring infusion medication drugs with each patient's insurance and renew when needed.
• Schedule testing and procedures for patients after their office visits and from incoming PCP requests.
• Manage phone triage and take appropriate action under the direction of the provider.
• Provide patient education and personal patient care to ensure comfort and well-being.
• Process refills for prescriptions following clinic protocol under the direction from providers.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with fellow clinic employees, managers, and providers.
• Follow safety procedures in compliance with OSHA and state health department guidelines.
