About the position
The Medical Assistant position at Banner Health is a vital role within the clinical team, focused on providing exceptional patient care and customer service. The Medical Assistant will assist clinicians and nursing staff in delivering medical care, managing patient flow, and ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical records. This role also includes clerical support and coordination of patient care, making it essential for maintaining a high standard of patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for exams and treatments by taking and recording vital signs and symptoms.
- Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking blood pressure and performing EKGs.
- Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, and scheduling.
- Provide clerical support with patient notifications and documentation, ensuring accurate medical records.
- Maintain a clean and functional environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and exam rooms.
- Order supplies and stock patient care areas as directed.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with all internal and external customers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
- Active Medical Assistant Certification (e.g., RMA, CMA, CCMA, NCMA) is required.
- BLS certification is required.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with medical software.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with office medical procedures and treatments.
- Knowledge of insurance and managed care operations.
- Familiarity with EMR and scheduling software.
