The Medical Biller/Coder position at Andover Eye Associates is a part-time role focused on ensuring accurate coding and billing for medical services. The position requires effective communication with healthcare providers and insurance companies to facilitate accurate billing and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records and patient information to ensure accurate coding and billing
• Assign appropriate diagnosis codes (ICD-9 or ICD-10) and procedure codes (DRG) to medical services
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations
• Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and obtain necessary information for accurate billing
• Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on claim status
• Process payments, refunds, and adjustments accurately and in a timely manner
• Resolve billing discrepancies and denials by working with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations

Requirements

• Anatomy knowledge
• Medical coding experience
• Physiology knowledge
• HIPAA Certified Professional Coder
• ICD-9 and ICD-10 knowledge
• Certified Coding Specialist
• CPT coding experience (1 year)
• Medical terminology knowledge
• Communication skills

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in medical coding (such as CPC or CCS)
