About the position

The Medical Technologist (MT) I maintains current professional knowledge and skills to perform testing as a generalist in the Clinical Laboratory, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and basic microbiology and blood banking. This position is responsible for producing high quality, accurate test results in an efficient manner consistent with laboratory and hospital policy. The MT I collects samples and analyzes bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities, including blood samples used in transfusions. They perform automated tests using computerized instruments and automated equipment, as well as manual tests based on detailed instructions from a physician.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality, accurate test results in an efficient manner consistent with laboratory and hospital policy.
  • Collect samples and analyze bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities.
  • Collect blood and study blood samples used in transfusions.
  • Perform automated tests using computerized instruments and automated equipment.
  • Perform manual tests based on detailed instructions from a physician.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Successful completion of the MLT certification (ASCP) within 6 months of hire.
  • Medical Technology internship at an accredited program required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 - 2 years generalist experience preferred.
  • Medical Lab Technician (MLT ASCP) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS ASCP) preferred.
