About the position

Fast Pace Health is seeking a highly-skilled, experienced Medical Receptionist to join our growing team. As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in providing a best-in-class patient experience in every interaction. You will be responsible for greeting, registering, instructing, discharging, and providing general assistance to patients, ensuring that their needs are met in a timely and professional manner. In this role, you will maintain compliance with Federal and State regulations, guidelines, and requirements, including a working knowledge of health information management issues such as HIPAA. You will obtain and record demographic, insurance, and financial information, verify insurance eligibility, and relay relevant information on payment policies and billing/collection processes. Additionally, you will collect co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and past due balances, and retrieve and fax/mail medical records to primary care providers and insurance carriers as per patient requests. The Medical Receptionist will also be responsible for answering telephone calls, taking messages, and returning voicemails, as well as providing clerical support as required. It is essential to maintain friendly, cordial relations with all clients and employees, fostering a positive work atmosphere that results in strong relationships with customers, co-workers, and managers. You will also perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of the team. As part of our commitment to excellence, you will complete all required preceptor training to effectively onboard and train new hires in centers of excellence. You will engage with Learning and Development to manage the onboarding and training of new employees, facilitating their welcome and introductions, facility tours, and clinic process overview. You will partner with Learning and Development to establish training plans and review schedules, submitting weekly evaluations on your trainee's progress and completing final evaluations on their last training day.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain behavior that is compliant with Federal and State regulations, guidelines, and requirements including working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA.
  • Greet, register, instruct, discharge and provide general assistance to patients.
  • Obtain and record demographic, insurance and financial information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and relay relevant information on payment policies and billing/collection processes.

  • Retrieve and fax/mail medical records to primary care providers and insurance carriers per patient request.

Requirements

  • Medical office experience and a familiarity with basic medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and with the public in a high-pressure environment.
  • Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communications skills.
  • Must have an outgoing and compassionate attitude.
  • High School Diploma or Its Equivalent.
