About the position

The Medical Receptionist Floater position is a vital role within the Pediatric Associates Family of Companies, specifically for the North Greater-Orlando Region. This position requires the individual to float between various offices, including FCP Deltona, FCP Sanford, FCP Longwood, FCP Winter Springs, and several pediatric locations in Apopka and Altamonte Springs. The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for providing exceptional service to patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment as they arrive at the offices. This role involves completing and updating necessary patient information, collecting payments, and providing essential information as requested. After appointments, the Medical Receptionist will discharge patients, ensuring they receive pertinent information and follow-up appointment details. In this position, the Medical Receptionist will check in patients, which includes updating demographics, insurance information, and collecting co-pays. They will also check out patients, collect additional balances, and provide visit summaries and referral information. The role requires verifying patient insurance, posting charges and payments, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Participation in staff and educational meetings is also expected to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to company policies and procedures. The Medical Receptionist Floater must be adaptable, as they may be required to cover locations outside of the primary offices listed. This position is essential for maintaining the flow of operations within the pediatric care environment, ensuring that all administrative tasks are handled efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Check-in patients upon arrival, updating demographics, insurance information, and collecting co-pays.
  • Check out patients, collecting additional balances and providing visit summaries and follow-up appointments.
  • Verify patient insurance through Batch Eligibility or on demand, ensuring active insurance and appropriate PCP.
  • Post patient charges and payments, completing charge and payment reconciliation.
  • Scan and upload documents in the Document Management system.
  • Sort and deliver mail and PA documents received by courier.
  • Maintain a clean work area and patient waiting area.
  • Participate in staff and educational meetings.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Active and valid driver's license upon hire and for the duration of employment.
  • Ability to learn and practice Pediatric Associates procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal skills to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to greet and receive patients/visitors professionally and friendly.
  • Professional phone skills and etiquette, with clear and concise communication.
  • Good judgment and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Experience in using a computer system, scanner, printer, fax, etc.
