About the position

As a Medical Receptionist at American Family Care, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients visiting the medical front office. Your primary responsibilities will include greeting and registering patients, collecting payments, discharging patients, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth and efficient operation of the front office, contributing to a positive patient experience. You will be expected to provide exceptional customer service, answering phone calls and addressing patient inquiries in a friendly and helpful manner. In addition to greeting patients, you will be responsible for providing them with initial paperwork and obtaining necessary copies of insurance and identification cards. Accurate and timely registration of patients is crucial, as is the verification of insurance information. You will also need to follow company procedures related to workers' compensation and occupational medicine patients, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all processes. Another key aspect of your role will involve determining, collecting, and processing patient payments, as well as addressing any collection and billing issues that may arise. You will assist patients with follow-up appointments and fulfill requests for medical documentation. Balancing daily patient charges against system reports will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.

  • Discharge patients accurately and timely by collecting balances, providing patient documentation, and following discharge procedures
  • Assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests
  • Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous medical office experience preferred
