The Medical Secretary, Lead position at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center involves a multifaceted role that is crucial for the smooth operation of the medical office. In addition to account management, the Medical Secretary, Lead will have significant billing responsibilities. This includes collecting and batching physician encounter forms and hospital charge tickets, as well as checking for any missing charges by reviewing the daily schedule. The lead will also be responsible for batching daily work and sending it to the physician billing office, collecting co-payments, and scheduling follow-up tests and appointments as necessary. This aspect of the role is vital for maintaining the financial health of the practice and ensuring that patients receive timely and accurate billing information. Another key responsibility of this position is front desk oversight and training. The lead medical secretary will be cross-trained in all front-desk duties to provide coverage as needed.
