About the position

The University of Miami is currently seeking a Medical Technologist to work at the UM Hospital in Miami. The incumbent will provide bone marrow / stem cell processing, cell counts, inventory control, record keeping, and issuing of cellular therapy products for infusion. The position will perform routine and non-routine testing, blood component preparation, quality control, inventory control, equipment QC, manual and computer documentation as part of daily job function. He/She will work closely with the laboratory supervisor to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local licensure regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process cellular therapy products for the intent of infusion to patients.
  • Process blood samples and perform basic tests and laboratory procedures. Calculate final cellular characteristics of cellular therapy products.
  • Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results.
  • Utilize sterile technique for the collection, processing, storing, and distributing of cellular therapy products.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of procedural steps performed to ensure conformity to specification.
  • Deliver test results to laboratory supervisor / laboratory director, physicians, or research personnel.
  • Transport cellular therapy products between clinical site and CTL.
  • Receive cellular therapy products from external donor sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate in Science degree
  • Maintain State of Florida Medical Technologist license
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
