About the position

Nemours is seeking a Medical Technologist - Blood Bank (full-time) to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, Delaware. Responsibilities

  • Performance of analytical procedures following Blood Bank Laboratory protocols.
  • Supervision is not required for specimen processing, test performance, reporting results of procedures with documented training.
  • Participates as a member on inspection teams, for example, as part of the College of American Pathologists, AABB and/or FDA.
  • Orders, accessions, statuses and reports results of tests performed on patient specimens.
  • Uses, calibrates and performs trouble-shooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment following established procedures.
  • Receive and store Stem Cell Products and/or Human Tissue Allografts following appropriate procedures.
  • Reviews technical and administrative procedures as assigned.
  • Handles supply and inventory issues as required/assigned.
  • Answers telephone as assigned; interacts routinely with a variety of individuals, including physicians and other clinical staff.
  • Follows all laboratory and hospital safety policies.
  • Trains others as assigned (e.g., students, residents, new employees, etc.).
  • On-call rotation assigned, when warranted.

Requirements

  • B. S. in Medical Technology (B.S.M.T. or equivalent, e.g., HHS examination or ability to meet CLIA qualifications for Moderate complexity laboratory testing) required.
  • Clinical Laboratory technical skills.
  • ASCP certification or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
