About the position

Clinical laboratory personnel, as members of the health care delivery team, are responsible for assuring reliable and accurate laboratory test results, which contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of physiological and pathological conditions in humans. Quality clinical laboratory testing is evidenced by performing the correct test, on the right person, at the right time, producing accurate test results, with the best outcome, in the most cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate to high complexity testing utilizing manual methods, semi-automated and automated clinical analyzers in areas of Chemistry and Hematology.
• Maintain equipment in good operating condition including scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and ensuring specimen processing during instrument downtime; maintain documentation of the same.
• Maintain positive identification of specimens throughout specimen processing and testing.
• Periodically review policy and procedure manuals to ensure compliance; maintain current knowledge of procedures; participate in training of new employees.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance, or departmental operations and immediately correct the problem or notify appropriate Supervisor.
• Review critical value results, notify patient care giver and document accordingly in Epic EMR.
• Perform all other related duties as needed.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Medical Lab Science or related science
• 3-5 Years experience in clinical laboratory
