About the position
Mercy Fitzgerald, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Medical Technologist to join our Clinical Lab team! The Medical Technologist conducts diagnostic laboratory tests that are important in detecting, analyzing and treating a wide variety of diseases and medical conditions. They use microscopes, chemicals, precision tools, analyzers and computer equipment to perform tests that give doctors and patients detailed information about various conditions, including the progress and prognosis of the patient. The role requires performing standard laboratory procedures consistently to provide high quality patient care and the ability to work independently in assigned areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, and Microbiology.
Responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostic laboratory tests to detect, analyze, and treat diseases and medical conditions.
- Use microscopes, chemicals, precision tools, analyzers, and computer equipment to perform tests.
- Provide detailed information about various conditions to doctors and patients.
- Perform standard laboratory procedures consistently to ensure high quality patient care.
- Work independently in assigned areas including Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, and Microbiology.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biological science, or chemistry, or a combination of 30 semester hours of biology, chemistry, and/or medical sciences.
- Master's or doctorate in chemistry, biology, immunology, immunohematology, microbiology, allied health, clinical laboratory sciences, or a related field.
- Possess or be eligible for Technologist certification (BB, C, CG, CT, H, HTL, MLS, M, MB) by ASCP.
- With Bachelor's; MT (ASCP) certification or eligible.
- Certified as MT (HEW).
- Certified as MT (AMT).
