About the position
The Medical Technologist II uses a high degree of skill to prepare blood, urine, and body fluid samples and perform laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This individual may specialize in one or more of the following areas: biochemistry, bacteriology, toxicology, parasitology, serology, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, or blood banking. The Medical Technologist II analyzes results and reports through the laboratory computer system. He/she performs related duties including quality control, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, workload recording, incomplete work lists, ordering and stocking supplies. The Medical Technologist II follows state and other agency regulations while organizing and prioritizing the workload for maximum productivity.
Responsibilities
- Prepare blood, urine, and body fluid samples for laboratory tests.
- Perform laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
- Analyze results and report through the laboratory computer system.
- Conduct quality control and instrument maintenance.
- Troubleshoot laboratory instruments as needed.
- Record workload and manage incomplete work lists.
- Order and stock laboratory supplies.
- Organize and prioritize workload for maximum productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institute.
- One year formal training in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Registered Medical Technologist, ASCP or equivalent, or eligible.
