About the position

The Medical Technologist II position involves performing moderate and high complexity testing in various areas of the Laboratory, including Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Microbiology, Serology, and Blood Bank. Key responsibilities include proper patient and specimen identification, adherence to testing policies and procedures, instrument use and troubleshooting, and computer functions. Medical Technologists collaborate closely with Phlebotomists, Medical Technologists, Nursing, and Physicians to provide patient care. This role meets the qualifications for testing personnel performing high complexity testing as specified in C.L.I.A. Subpart M. Sec. 493.1491.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing in the Laboratory.
• Ensure proper patient and specimen identification.
• Adhere to testing policies and procedures.
• Utilize and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
• Perform computer functions related to laboratory testing.
• Collaborate with Phlebotomists, Nursing, and Physicians to provide patient care.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Licensure/Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or certification in a laboratory discipline from ASCP or certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) from HEW or AMT.
• Completion of a Military training course as a Medical Laboratory Specialist is acceptable.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in MT(ASCP), CLS (NCA), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), or MT(HEW).
