About the position

Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Medical Technologist for our Laboratory department. This job is permanent, full-time.

Responsibilities

  • Performs common testing procedures and reports test results.
  • Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Performs quality control testing.
  • Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests.
  • Labels, processes and delivers specimens for testing.
  • Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques.
  • Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
  • Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology.
  • ASCP certification by a CLIA approved credentialing organization OR BS equivalency by passing a certification exam.
  • MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), MT(AMT), MLS(AMT) certification preferred.
  • Clinical Laboratory Personnel Technologist license in Tennessee.
  • MT (ASCP) certification OR equivalent MT/MLS (AMT) OR State of Tennessee Medical Technologist license OR Medical Technologist- General Supervisor required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 60 days of hire.
