About the position
HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is seeking a Medical Technologist PRN to join their team. This role involves performing routine and complex laboratory testing using both manual and automated methods. The technologist will be responsible for problem-solving and reporting various lab procedures in areas such as Hematology, Immunohematology, Serology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Urinalysis with little or no supervision. Competency in specimen collection, quality control, equipment maintenance, and participation in quality assurance and performance improvement activities is required. Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex laboratory testing using manual and automated methods.
- Problem-solve and report lab procedures in Hematology, Immunohematology, Serology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Urinalysis.
- Demonstrate competency in specimen collection and performance of quality control.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the lab director/manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Associate Degree in a relevant field.
- 6 months to 1 year of experience preferred, but not required.
- Required certification: MT(ASCP), CLS(ASCP), MLT(ASCP), MT(AMT), or MT(HEW) preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge of laboratory medicine.
