Medical Technologist PRN

About the position

TriStar Horizon Medical Center is seeking a Medical Technologist PRN to join our team. This role involves collecting and preparing specimens, performing laboratory procedures for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies. The Medical Technologist will verify, record, and report lab results accurately and timely, while maintaining cleanliness in the work area and equipment. Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Perform laboratory procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
• Verify, record, and report lab results accurately and timely.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
• Maintain cleanliness of all equipment, instruments, and work area.
• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, and reporting.
• Perform tests authorized by the Laboratory Director based on education, training, and experience.
• Evaluate test results according to predefined criteria and report/enter/verify results in the Laboratory Information System.
• Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or reporting of results, or notify appropriate personnel.
• Document corrective actions taken when performance specifications deviate.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a chemical/physical/biological or other life science with relevant generalist clinical laboratory experience within the last five years.
• OR Bachelor's degree in laboratory medical technology with clinical rotation.
• National Registration as an MLS(ASCP)cm, MT(ASCP) or equivalent, or registry-eligible at date of hire.
• National certification must be obtained within the first six months of employment if not held at date of hire.
• Interpersonal skills to interact successfully with staff, patients, patient families, and vendors.
