About the position

HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is seeking a Medical Technologist to join their team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a leading healthcare provider, where your passion for creating positive patient interactions is valued. The role involves performing manual and automated test procedures, accurately reporting laboratory results, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures. The Medical Technologist will also participate in continuing education and training to enhance technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes specialized knowledge and skill to perform job requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including minor troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform manual and automated test procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of specimen requirements, processing, handling, and rejection criteria.
  • Maintains ability to report laboratory results, including special calculated, critical values and quality control in a timely manner.
  • Knowledgeable of all laboratory forms, and logs.
  • Demonstrates understanding of hospital policies and procedures, i.e. technical safety, infection control and disaster policies.

Requirements

  • One year experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • MT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred or Registry eligible as a Medical Technologist.
  • Associate degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology or related area of specialty preferred.
