About the position

The Membership Experience Specialist L1 at the Pickaway YMCA is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for members and guests, ensuring they feel valued and connected to the YMCA community. This part-time role involves managing membership transactions, providing information about YMCA services, and maintaining the Welcome Desk area. The specialist plays a key role in fostering relationships among members and promoting the YMCA's mission of healthy living and community support.

Responsibilities

• Scan membership cards of all entering the building and make members feel welcome by learning their names.
• Convey information about membership payments or renewals to members upon entry.
• Maintain accurate records of transactions and shift activity, including cash, check, and credit sales.
• Help members connect with one another to form friendships.
• Provide information about the YMCA's services to callers, guests, and members.
• Conduct facility tours for prospective members and follow up with them in a timely manner.
• Sell memberships to guests according to established procedures and policies.
• Ensure the Welcome Desk is clean, orderly, and adequately stocked.
• Respond to emergency situations as per YMCA policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of related experience and/or training.
• Basic computer skills, including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Passionate belief in the YMCA's cause of nurturing youth potential and supporting healthy living.

Nice-to-haves

• CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2 certifications (must be obtained within 90 days).
• Experience in customer service or community engagement.
