About The Position

The Mental Health Worker (MHA) at RWJBarnabas Health plays a crucial role in supporting the behavioral health needs of patients in the Involuntary Inpatient Unit. This part-time evening position involves assisting in the implementation of individualized care plans, ensuring patient safety, and facilitating daily activities to promote well-being.

Requirements

• BA Degree in psychology or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of recent behavioral health experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of one year of experience, training, or education in the field of treatment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out the behavioral plan of care, including diversional activities.
• Work under the direction of the RN to provide care for patients on the unit.
• Take vital signs and perform EKGs.
• Assist or provide bedside care, including bathing, mouth care, and skin care.
• Maintain unit safety and facilitate daily activities for patients.
• Assist patients in activities of daily living.
• Conduct rounds and monitor patient status.
• Record accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Assist in code responses as per policy and training.
• Help secure patient personal belongings.
