About the position

The Mentor Coordinator at Grand St. Settlement is responsible for overseeing the success of the Mentoring Program at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center. This role involves engaging with mentors, recruiting and training them, and ensuring the program meets its goals. The position requires a strong commitment to youth development, particularly for older youth from vulnerable backgrounds, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance mentorship and career readiness opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the current Mentoring Program and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct mentor outreach and recruit mentors from local sources such as colleges and businesses.
  • Develop strategies to meet enrollment and attendance goals for Project IMPACTS.
  • Ensure proper mentor screening, orientation, ongoing training, and support.
  • Match mentors to specific projects and youth members.
  • Support youth members and projects, modeling high-quality mentoring.
  • Facilitate soft skill building activities and college and career readiness opportunities.
  • Develop youth leadership opportunities to advocate for their interests.
  • Track reporting data and submit monthly and semiannual reports.
  • Participate in community meetings and conferences related to The Clubhouse Network.
  • Assist in the day-to-day execution of the learning model for youth members and mentors.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment, and evaluate participant needs for funding streams.
  • Supervise youth and mentors on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist in planning for youth academic and career opportunities.
  • Organize college- and career-readiness events for the TTC Calendar of Events.
  • Support fundraising efforts for the Teen Tech Center.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising staff.
  • 1+ year of experience providing family and community engagement events.
  • 3+ years of experience working with young people, especially older youth from vulnerable backgrounds.
  • Experience recruiting volunteers and organizing ongoing volunteer events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Adobe Creative Cloud and 3D modeling.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Utilize a trauma-informed approach to youth development.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
