About The Position

Westat is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to work as Field Interviewers for the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS). This role involves conducting in-person and computer-assisted interviews with households to gather data on health care costs and usage in the United States. Field Interviewers will be responsible for contacting households, conducting interviews, and ensuring compliance with data security and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or older (or an emancipated minor).
• Ability to enter binding confidentiality agreements to protect project information.
• Availability to complete web-based home study training and in-person training from March 11 to March 16, 2025.
• Must reside in and travel to the geographic location determined by the project.
• Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
• Willingness to travel locally for project work, with some overnight travel as needed.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting 20 pounds, walking several blocks, and climbing stairs while carrying equipment.
• Consistent access to a fully insured, reliable vehicle and a current valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with computer-assisted in-person and/or computer-assisted video interviewing.
• Public contact and/or cold calling experience.
• Comfortable working in unfamiliar locations and communicating with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person interviews with adult members of households using a Westat-provided laptop computer (CAPI).
• Perform computer-assisted video interviews (CAVI) for returning cases.
• Contact households in-person and/or by phone to gain cooperation and set up appointments.
• Collect MEPS-related electronically signed and/or hard copy documents.
• Report regularly to a field supervisor and complete administrative paperwork.
• Comply with data security and confidentiality requirements.

Benefits

• Hourly pay rate of $17.53.
• Health and welfare payment of $4.93 per hour for up to 40 work hours per week.
