About the position

The MFT Trainee position at PUC Schools is designed for individuals passionate about mental health and committed to the mission of uplifting underserved communities through education. This role involves conducting research, organizing clinical materials, and providing translation services for Spanish-speaking families, all while adhering to the values and culture of PUC Schools. The position is voluntary and unpaid, aimed at providing practical experience in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on various topics related to Mental Health, including theories, treatment interventions, and community resources.
  • Maintain inventory of Clinical Counseling Program materials and manage the file cabinet.
  • Check stock on toys, games, and books for the Clinical Counseling Department.
  • Coordinate with MFT Trainees/Interns to conduct phone conversations and set up family therapy appointments with Spanish-speaking families.
  • Translate Family Therapy sessions for MFT Trainees with Spanish-speaking families.
  • Attend monthly training sessions, orientation sessions, and group supervisions as available.
  • Exhibit integrity, initiative, motivation, and self-awareness in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate appropriate oral and written communication skills.
  • Show respect for clients, colleagues, and staff, maintaining professional relationships.
  • Manage personal affect and demonstrate understanding of community involvement.
  • Adhere to agency policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program majoring or minoring in Psychology, Sociology, Marital and Family Therapy, School Counseling, or Social Work.
