About the position

The Wireless RAN Design Manager at GCI Communication Corp is responsible for overseeing the engineering design and delivery of the company's Wireless RAN infrastructure upgrades. This leadership role focuses on developing standards and plans to ensure optimal RF coverage and capacity, aligning with service quality standards and user demands. The manager will lead a team, establish clear goals, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement in engineering standards and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Fully own the mission, goals, operations, and results of the team and areas of responsibility.
  • Provide strong leadership to direct and indirect reports, demonstrating effective leadership in all interactions companywide.
  • Establish the vision and tone for the department, consistent with company culture and mission.
  • Set clear, measurable, and achievable goals and performance expectations, following up appropriately.
  • Hire individuals who can accomplish goals and meet expectations, providing necessary communication, training, tools, and mentoring.
  • Provide clear and accurate feedback to individuals and teams on a timely basis.
  • Manage processes including performance reviews, compensation adjustments, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Prepare high and detailed level designs using industry-standard tools in alignment with corporate strategic goals.
  • Ensure Wireless RAN Design aligns with CTO strategy and meets customer and technological roadmap requirements.
  • Manage hardware configurations and standards of RAN components to maximize coverage and signal quality.
  • Stay updated on the latest wireless technologies and develop plans for adopting new technologies to improve network performance.
  • Identify training needs for the team and collaborate with other departments for seamless service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional engineering experience in wireless telecommunications with a focus on RAN design.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory or management position, or equivalent demonstrated functional leadership experience.
  • Proficient computer skills and MS Office knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • IEEE WCET certification.
  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Telecommunications experience.
  • Other relevant telecom industry or job-specific certifications.
