The Middle School Special Education Teacher is a state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities. This role requires the teacher to provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process in accordance with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The teacher will actively engage with students and their families to promote learning and ensure compliance with all necessary documentation related to special education services. In this position, the teacher will be responsible for developing compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other state-specific documentation. They will facilitate collaborative meetings, including annual IEP meetings, and ensure that students receive appropriate therapies by communicating effectively with parents and related service staff. The teacher will also utilize provided resources to implement accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, ensuring their inclusion and success in the general education classroom. The role demands a commitment to personalizing learning experiences for all students, demonstrating high expectations for student success, and maintaining a positive rapport with families. The teacher will collect data to monitor student progress, document all interactions with parents and students, and prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests. This position requires the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office environment. The teacher will also be expected to travel up to 20% of the time for professional development, student testing, and other school-related activities.
