Midframe Database CICS Supervisor (Public Service Administrator Opt. 3)

About the position

The Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) is seeking to hire qualified candidates for the position of Midframe Database CICS Supervisor. This role involves directing and coordinating project activities to ensure the best hardware and software solutions are available for client use. The supervisor will evaluate and plan for newly released products, assess their ability to solve client issues, and oversee the agency's use of new technologies. The position requires working with highly complex server systems running client applications and includes responsibilities such as monitoring performance reports, coordinating IT procurements, and staying current with developments in the information technology field.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Midframe Database Customer Information Control System (CICS) Supervisor.
• Direct and coordinate project activities to ensure optimal hardware and software solutions.
• Monitor the availability, security, configuration, and performance of server systems.
• Review performance reports and activity data to determine necessary solutions.
• Act as a working supervisor and project manager.
• Lead major IT procurements and coordinate evaluations and acquisitions of new software.
• Stay updated on new developments in the information technology field.

Requirements

• Completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in management information systems, data processing, telecommunications, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in management information systems, data processing, or telecommunications.

Nice-to-haves

• Three (3) years of professional experience managing, configuring, and optimizing CICS environments within a z/OS, z/VM, or z/VSE operating system.
• Three (3) years of professional experience with mainframe tools and technologies.
• Three (3) years of professional experience in the installation and administration of software packages and security protocols.
• Three (3) years of professional experience in network communication.
• Three (3) years of professional experience developing complex written IT analysis and recommendation reports.
• Extensive knowledge of mainframe environment software.
• Ability to assess and forecast budgetary needs.
• Ability to analyze complex IT infrastructure challenges.
