About the position

The Mission Critical Project Manager is responsible for leading and directing architectural and engineering (AE) project teams in all aspects of professional services. This role involves maintaining communication between the project team, clients, consultants, contractors, and relevant authorities. The Project Manager oversees project activities, ensuring compliance with client and contract requirements, project planning, staffing, and quality goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Principal-in-Charge with the professional services proposal process and negotiate the Owner/Architect Agreement.
  • Lead and direct multi-disciplinary AE teams through all phases of a project including programming, schematic design, design development, construction document, and construction administration services.
  • Prepare, implement, and monitor Project Plans and strategies.
  • Manage client activities and contracts, identifying and securing additional service fees for work outside the Owner/Architect Agreement.
  • Manage overall project schedule and develop, coordinate, and manage short-term schedules and tasks with the project team.
  • Establish and monitor discipline hour budgets and staffing needs to meet profit goals.
  • Manage the gathering of owner-required data.
  • Prepare contract forms for Owners and Consultants and monitor adherence to those contracts.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and manage all required design and technical reviews through all project phases.
  • Manage the Project Team during the bidding and construction administration phase according to the Owner/Architect Agreement.
  • Participate in marketing efforts including client maintenance, proposals, and interviews as directed by the Sector or Business Leader.
  • Assist the Principal-in-Charge in the post-construction evaluation process when requested.
  • Interact daily with Operations Leaders and Business Leaders regarding project success metrics, issue resolution, and strategic goals.
  • Guide and monitor AE project teams' adherence to the HED Project Design Process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Professional Licensure.
  • LEED Accredited preferred.
  • Minimum ten years' professional experience in AE or Client-Side Project Management with extensive knowledge of professional services from marketing through project close-out.
  • Experience in Mission Critical and/or Data Center design/development is strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the coordination of all design disciplines.
  • Ability to motivate others and develop teamwork, excellent writing and speaking skills, and strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work well and enthuse teams under deadline situations.
  • Demonstrate leadership to the project team and to Owners.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible.
  • Possess strong business acumen and demonstrate that acumen in day-to-day activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Mission Critical and/or Data Center design/development is strongly preferred.
