About the position

The Mission Hardware Systems Engineer role at Apex Systems involves supporting and managing the successful completion of tasks in assigned projects related to information systems applications and peripheral hardware. This position requires installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support for Unix and Windows hardware, ensuring effective operation and user support.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage the successful completion of all tasks in assigned projects.
  • Provide installation maintenance and troubleshooting support for information systems applications and related peripheral hardware.
  • Screen, refer, and diagnose internal inquiries and work requests related to maintenance of personal computers and related systems.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware and software.
  • Provide end-user software troubleshooting and support.
  • Coordinate development of deliverables and products.
  • Participate in the administration of e-mail systems.
  • Track project studies, plans, action items, etc.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Requirements

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience) in a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
  • 1+ years of directly related experience supporting information systems operations.
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph Required.
  • Understanding of remote VoIP administration.
  • Experience with conferencing system configuration.
  • Knowledge of CAT5, CAT6, and copper termination requirements.
  • Familiarity with telephone testing and installation equipment.
  • Must possess appropriate and current DoD Information Assurance (IA) Certification; either CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ CE, Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), or CCNA-Security. CompTIA Security+ CE is preferred.
