About the position

Edgerton Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our full-service Hospital Laboratory. This full-time position requires the candidate to work in a dynamic environment that includes weekend and holiday rotations. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a broad range of laboratory testing and tasks, including but not limited to phlebotomy, hematology, coagulation, chemistry, immunochemistry, serology, urinalysis, arterial blood gases, blood bank, and microbiology. In this role, the MT/MLT will perform advanced and complex laboratory procedures, recognizing deviations from expected results and utilizing scientific principles and critical thinking to analyze and correct problems. The candidate will evaluate and solve issues related to the collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis, ensuring the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment. This includes using, calibrating, identifying malfunctions, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment. Quality control and assurance activities are a critical part of this position, and the MT/MLT will be responsible for documenting these activities and any corrective actions taken. Adherence to biosafety practices and regulations is essential. The candidate will also be expected to answer inquiries regarding test results, methodology, and factors influencing test results. Additionally, the MT/MLT may evaluate and implement new techniques and procedures in the laboratory, including equipment, method comparison, and establishment of reference intervals. Familiarity with Epic Beaker is a plus, as it enhances the efficiency of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • ASCP Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
