About The Position

The Mobile Correctional Officer position with the Missouri Department of Corrections is a vital role focused on maintaining security and safety within correctional facilities. Officers are part of the Mobile Custody Team, which requires extensive travel across the state to assist with staffing needs. Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Ability to complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training.
• Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.

• Ability to complete and maintain firearms certification training.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security in buildings, towers, and other posts of an adult correctional facility.
• Intervene during emergencies or altercations and gain physical control of offenders.
• Supervise movement of offenders inside and outside the correctional facility.
• Conduct periodic counts of offenders and search for contraband.
• Escort and transport offenders to predetermined locations.
• Supervise offenders during work activities, recreational activities, and visits.
• Conduct inspections for health and safety hazards.
• Prepare and submit reports on offender violations and unusual behaviors.
• Discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders and refer serious issues to proper staff.
• Promote rehabilitation by modifying offenders' social attitudes and encouraging positive activities.
