About the position

This is a non-licensed para-professional position that provides mobile behavioral health crisis support within the area of responsibility of the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT). Responder is assigned an on-call schedule when they must be available 24/7. The mobile crisis responder provides immediate, on-site behavioral health crisis intervention and stabilization services for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and emotional distress crises in the community. This role involves responding to emergency calls, de-escalating crisis situations, assessing needs and providing referrals to appropriate services. The responder works in collaboration with licensed therapists, other MCRT team members, first responders and other community service providers to ensure individuals receive the necessary care and support. Employee must reside in the county where Mobile Crisis Response Team services are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate, on-site behavioral health crisis intervention and stabilization services.
  • Respond to emergency calls and de-escalate crisis situations.
  • Assess needs and provide referrals to appropriate services.
  • Collaborate with licensed therapists, MCRT team members, first responders, and community service providers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required plus three years of experience working with the target population; or AA degree in a human service field plus two years of experience; or a related Bachelor's degree plus one year of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies, de-escalation techniques, and basic mental health first aid preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Navajo) preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Must provide a current motor vehicle record and personal owner liability automobile insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a Peer or Family Specialist can substitute for one year of related work experience.
