About the position

The Garrett Group is seeking an experienced Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Computer Programmer to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for the development, integration, and execution of M&S systems, providing critical support in analyzing, reviewing, and assessing key performance parameters. This role requires coordination with system architects and engineers to resolve issues, troubleshoot M&S tools, and deliver the required capabilities. In this position, you will manage M&S system operations, focusing on missile warning, missile defense, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communication (NC3), and space. You will operate and maintain baseline Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) M&S systems, ensuring their availability for training audiences in coordination with other government agencies. Additionally, you will provide help desk support during normal working hours with 24/7 surge capability as needed during exercises and training events. Your responsibilities will also include utilizing government-provided tools and models to develop, test, and execute fully integrated and dynamic M&S simulations for display systems used during exercises, training, and wargames. You will work with various tools/models such as the Joint Integrated Ballistic Missile Defense/Missile Warning Training System (JIMDTS), Low Overhead Training Simulation (LOTS), and Hyperion, among others. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders during planning phases will be essential to identify and implement appropriate simulation architectures based on event requirements and objectives. Furthermore, you will support the selection, implementation, and execution of detailed computer models or alternative analysis tools for assessment, experimentation, concept development, demonstrations, prototyping, and wargames. This includes developing use cases, user scenarios, and concepts of operations, as well as assisting in designing simulation experiments. You will also be responsible for developing specified NPES training/exercise scenarios using Hyperion and maintaining historical M&S databases, ensuring the functionality and interface with operational Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems. Reporting and coordination tasks will involve drafting end-of-month status reports on M&S activities and serving as Simulation Coordinator for specified events.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain baseline Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) M&S systems.
  • Provide help desk support during normal working hours with 24/7 surge capability as needed during exercises and training events.
  • Utilize government-provided tools and models to develop, test, and execute fully integrated and dynamic M&S simulations.
  • Work with tools/models such as JIMDTS, LOTS, Scenario Injector, Hyperion, and AWSIM.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders during planning phases to identify and implement appropriate simulation architectures.
  • Support the selection, implementation, and execution of detailed computer models or alternative analysis tools.
  • Develop use cases, user scenarios, and concepts of operations; assist in designing simulation experiments.
  • Develop specified NPES training/exercise scenarios using Hyperion and provide software configuration control and maintenance.
  • Archive data and maintain historical M&S databases.
  • Draft and submit end-of-month status reports on M&S activities.
  • Coordinate conferences, seminars, symposia, and technology demonstrations.
  • Serve as Simulation Coordinator for specified events, facilitating M&S Working Groups, selecting appropriate tools, and conducting system tests.
  • Support research, testing, evaluation, and implementation of existing and emerging hardware and software M&S systems.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Python, or a similar programming language approved by the Government.
  • At least 5 years' experience within the last 7 years in relevant M&S activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, testing, evaluating, and implementing M&S systems.
  • At least 1 year of direct experience in Nuclear Command and Control (NC2) and Space wargame visualizations.
  • At least 5 years' experience maintaining and operating live, virtual, and constructive M&S components in a virtualized and federated architecture.
  • Preferred candidates will have a current Security+ certification or be able to obtain it within 3 months of the start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Hyperion software troubleshooting.
