About the position
The position requires extensive experience in the design, installation, and configuration of multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets on Linux platforms. The candidate will be responsible for adding and removing replica and shard nodes in the MongoDB cluster as needed, ensuring even distribution of data across multiple shards, and converting replica sets to sharded clusters due to data size growth and better query rate planning. The role also involves knowledge of upgrade/migrations of replica sets and sharded clusters, deploying, migrating data, monitoring, analyzing, and tuning MongoDB. In-depth knowledge of Ops Manager, including its upgrade, groups, projects, authentication, and authorization, is essential. The candidate should have configured SSL key files for security across all mongod instances and possess extensive knowledge of MongoDB replication architecture and change streams. Documenting MongoDB installation, operations, security, and auditing across multiple environments is also a key responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Design, install, and configure multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets on Linux platforms.
- Add and remove replica and shard nodes in the MongoDB cluster as needed.
- Ensure even distribution of data across multiple shards.
- Convert replica sets to sharded clusters due to data size growth.
- Manage upgrades and migrations of replica sets and sharded clusters.
- Deploy, migrate data, monitor, analyze, and tune MongoDB.
- Utilize Ops Manager for management and upgrades.
- Configure SSL key files for security across all mongod instances.
- Document MongoDB installation, operations, security, and auditing.
- Manage query plan architecture and performance tuning at host and DB level.
- Migrate Mongo cluster to AWS.
- Build ReplicaSet/Shared Cluster.
- Upgrade Mongo clusters (ReplicaSet/Shared Cluster).
- Scale MongoDB across data centers and understand HA strategies.
Requirements
- Experience in design, installation, and configuration of multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets.
- Good knowledge of shard keys and data distribution.
- Experience with MongoDB upgrade/migrations.
- In-depth knowledge of Ops Manager and its functionalities.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization, including X509 authentication.
- Experience with MongoDB replication architecture and change streams.
- Ability to document MongoDB operations and security measures.
- Knowledge of query plan architecture and performance tuning.
- Experience with range-based and hash-based sharding/indexing.
- Experience with MongoDump and MongoRestore.
- Understanding of read/write concerns.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of Arbiter for High Availability.
- Experience with slow secondary sync and Wired Tiger cache management.
- Experience with Oplog resize and tuning Oplog size.
Benefits
- Salary Range: $62,500 - $130,000 a year
