The Monitor Technician & Unit Secretary in the ICU at Sutter Coast Hospital is a vital role responsible for providing comprehensive clerical support to the nursing unit and physician staff. The technician is trained and/or certified in basic cardiac monitoring, which involves continuous observation of cardiac rhythms and promptly reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare staff. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including chart management, data collection, forms management, and processing admissions, discharges, and transfers, as well as facilitating departmental communication as required. In addition to clerical duties, the Monitor Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and privacy by adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures. The position requires a proactive approach to recognizing emergency situations and taking appropriate actions. The technician must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, supervisors, patients, and other personnel. Advanced knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR) systems like EPIC, is essential for success in this role. The ability to interpret various forms of data and instructions, prioritize assignments, and work independently or as part of a team is critical in this fast-paced environment.
