About the position
The Motor Vehicle Operator position at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, involves operating patient transport vehicles to provide safe and timely transportation for veterans to various medical facilities. The role emphasizes adherence to high standards of professionalism and compassion while ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers during transport. The operator will be responsible for driving scheduled routes, loading and unloading patients, and maintaining vehicle safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Operate patient transport vehicles, including emergency vehicles and vans/buses, carrying 8 or more passengers.
- Drive predetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs.
- Check I.D. cards to ensure authorization of passengers as required.
- Use Mobile Data Computer (MDC) for assigned trips and duties.
- Load and unload patients and medical supplies.
- Perform operator inspection checklist/forms and maintain records of accidents/incidents.
- Participate in Service Safety activities and attend scheduled safety trainings as directed by supervisor.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
- Valid state issued CDL driver's license with passenger endorsements is required.
- Pre-employment physical required.
- Subject to background/security investigation.
- Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
- Participation in COVID-19 vaccination program is required.
