About The Position

The Motor Vehicle Operator position is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of vehicles at the Youth Center located at Shaw AFB, SC. The role involves ensuring safe transportation of cargo and passengers, adhering to traffic regulations, and performing routine vehicle maintenance.

Requirements

• Skill in maneuvering and driving vehicles weighing more than 10,000 pounds and up to 26,000 pounds.
• Knowledge of sizes and weights of vehicles.
• Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) for transporting 16 or more passengers including the driver.
• Ability to frequently handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to exert light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
• Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical and a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform maintenance on vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, ambulances, passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans.
• Load and unload cargo by hand, ensuring safety and security of the load during transit.
• Determine the shortest and safest routes for vehicle operation.
• Observe safety rules, regulations, and posted traffic controls.
• Wash and maintain vehicles as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
