About the position

The Motor Vehicle Program Supervisor 1 is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the operations of the Station Mechanic Support Program within the Vehicle Inspection Division. This position ensures compliance with regulatory standards, manages staff performance, and enhances the efficiency of vehicle safety and emissions inspections. The supervisor will also be involved in data analysis, operational procedure establishment, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to questions from employees and the public about vehicle safety and emissions inspections.
  • Oversee compliance with state laws and regulations.
  • Approve leave requests and conduct performance evaluations for staff.
  • Review and approve applications for inspection stations.
  • Manage case files in the Vehicle Inspection Information Database (VIID).
  • Supervise workloads to ensure timely approvals.
  • Establish operational procedures and prepare reports.
  • Analyze data for trends that may need further investigation.
  • Collaborate with MVPS3 and Program Analysts to identify system issues.
  • Manage information related to businesses involved in safety and emissions inspections.
  • Maintain a database of station activities linked to audits and operational changes.
  • Keep staff informed about program updates.
  • Promote a culture of safety and address unsafe practices immediately.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in line management or administrative staff work in a public or private organization.
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
