The MP&P Engineer 2 - Chemical position is a dynamic role focused on supporting the development, demonstration, and transition of innovative coating technologies within the Materials and Manufacturing Technology division at Boeing. This position requires an energetic and driven individual who is handy in the lab and capable of working under general supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to manage routine work independently and tackle special projects with minimal guidance. The role is on-call for 24 to 40 hours a week, with the schedule varying based on weekly needs. In this position, the engineer will define requirements and approve the tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture, and maintenance of products. They will produce specifications and other documentation to manage the deployment of these resources while ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. The engineer will also promote standardization across business activities and evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to business needs. The role involves developing and qualifying new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes to meet specific requirements, integrating new technologies as appropriate, and managing test and audit programs to qualify suppliers. Additionally, the engineer will conduct analyses to characterize performance or determine reasons for failures, implement corrective and preventive actions, and design, develop, and qualify computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements. Project management tools will be utilized to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements, while also incorporating environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into all aspects of materials and processes, research, design, qualification, and work procedures. This position allows for some telecommuting, but the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the specified location. Due to export control compliance requirements, the candidate must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by relevant regulations.
