About the position

The MRI Technologist position at Henry Ford Hospital involves performing magnetic resonance imaging studies under general supervision. The role includes preparing patients, positioning them, setting imaging parameters, and processing images. The technologist will also assist in developing protocols for patient studies and perform quality control procedures on the MRI equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares them for the examination.
  • Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination.
  • Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary to ensure a safe procedure.
  • Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
  • Analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the MRI scan.
  • Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
  • Administers contrast and monitors the patient for possible reactions as appropriate to the study.
  • May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure.
  • Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.
  • Assists Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Must maintain the required hours of continued education.
  • Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
  • Two (2) years of experience in Radiography is recommended but not mandatory.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) with the advanced ARRT registry in MRI or registry eligible.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Radiography is preferred but not mandatory.
