About the position

Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children, and families in three main areas: Community Health Services, Clinical Health Services, and Supportive Health Services. The MSHS Teacher Aide position is seasonal and full-time, requiring assistance in implementing educational and family engagement objectives in the classroom. The role includes maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, engaging with parents and the community, and ensuring compliance with various standards and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the education team to establish a classroom structure implementing program curriculum to fidelity and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing educational environment that ensures a quality child development program.
  • Assume responsibility for the daily operation of classroom in the teacher's absence.
  • Assist in the effective use and maintenance of materials, supplies, equipment, facilities and grounds.
  • Provide childcare at parent meetings, conferences, etc. as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding program, children and families, and staff, including records and communications following CAPWN policy and HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.
  • Translate communication between teacher, child and family, using family's primary language, when appropriate.
  • Engage in respectful interactions with parents and community.
  • Engage in regular communication and information sharing with other education staff in classroom.
  • Recruit eligible children for the program to ensure full enrollment.
  • Encourage community involvement and support for the program.
  • Participate and contribute to a quality program through team meetings and goals and program assessment.
  • Maintain Current Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED card or must be able to acquire within three months.
  • Dedicate energy to providing high quality, value-added customer service and care to clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 18 or above.
  • Must obtain a Child Development Associates credential within 24 months of hire.
  • Basic level of computer knowledge.
  • Experience working with families from various ethnic backgrounds is preferred.
  • Complete 15 contact hours of education annually in subject matter related to position.
