The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the construction team in managing the project to achieve execution of the Prime Contract and job completion on time and on budget. The Project Engineer is expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the Company’s core values and its Business Ethics, Employee Conduct and Confidentiality policies.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain construction schedule (Assist)
  • Create and maintain construction budget (Assist)
  • Obtain and maintain all required project permits including building, engineer, SWRCB, OSHA, etc.
  • Obtain and qualify all subcontractor bids
  • Work with PM in issuing subcontractor contracts
  • Manage General Conditions
  • Manage project reports
  • Manage meeting agendas and minutes
  • Manage the submittal and RFI process
  • Manage and qualify any proposed change orders
  • General support of project daily needs
  • Coordinate with city on inspection, project delivery, etc.
  • Coordinate and communicate with ownership on process of project
  • Assemble submittal packages to various jurisdictions (Assist)
  • Effectively communicate with building staff, inspectors and officials, contractors, design consultants, owners, bankers and investors
  • Assemble back up material as needed & package in an orderly manner for approval, etc. (Assist)
  • Request and track bids (Assist)
  • Expedite review of RFIs, submittals etc. (Assist)
  • Log and track RFIs, PCOs, submittals, correspondence and other project documents (Assist)
  • Comply with company policies and administrative procedures
  • Coordinate procurement and review of all close out documents (Assist)
  • Develop & update construction schedule (Assist)
  • Develop & update Master Schedule (Assist)
  • Read Blueprints & understand various stages of drawings & specs.
  • Take project progress photos and videos
  • Facilitate material procurement internally and externally with subcontractors to meet construction schedule

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience supporting construction processes
  • Basic knowledge of construction document design process
  • Basic knowledge of plan check and permitting process
  • Basic knowledge of bidding, addendum, and contract award process
  • Basic knowledge of change order process
  • Basic knowledge of common construction equipment and techniques
  • Basic knowledge of common construction materials and systems
  • Basic knowledge of contract provisions and contract administration
  • Basic knowledge of cost savings vs. value engineering and such efforts and methodology during various stages of design
  • Basic knowledge of construction process
  • Basic knowledge of estimates and estimating
  • General computer usage with emphasis in Microsoft Office
  • Jobsite safety knowledge
  • Knowledge of various components of 'front end' specifications for construction contract documents
  • Ability to read blueprints & understand various stages of drawings & specs.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Understanding of A/E & other consultant contracts
  • Understanding of roles & responsibilities of team members
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment, including in inclement weather
  • Ability to work beyond regular work hours may be required to meet project deadlines
