About The Position

The MV Traveling Switchgear Field Technician is responsible for assisting in the start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of medium voltage electrical switchgear and related equipment. This role requires establishing and maintaining excellent rapport with customers and colleagues while ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures. The technician will also manage their own schedule and provide timely communication to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3 years of hands-on experience with Medium Voltage switchgear or field services.
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies.
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints for power control and automation.
  • Background in electrical power including medium voltage and switchgear testing.
  • Experience with programming PLCs and HMIs is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and standard computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and/or prior military service performing applicable job duties.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, AC/DC, and voltage circuit theory.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distant vision, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in start-up commissioning, integration, and emergency service of medium voltage electrical switchgear.
  • Establish and maintain excellent rapport with customers and co-workers.
  • Evaluate operating conditions of equipment and interact comfortably with customers.
  • Perform general and preventive maintenance on switchgear.
  • Respond to emergency calls at customer's request.
  • Strive to provide a 'first time fix' for customer equipment.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external customers.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Report timecards, expense reports, and other documentation accurately.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
