About the position

The .Net Developer position at the Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) is a full-time role focused on project integrations for CDPS applications and related systems. The developer will assist in identifying, evaluating, implementing, and managing support requests and project tasks in a technical environment, requiring independent analysis and decision-making skills. The role involves significant development work, technical support, and organizational commitment to project implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and support of essential applications for CDPS.
  • Provide technical development tasks to integrate applications into the CDPS Enterprise Application environment.
  • Perform configuration management for COTS applications and minimize defects through disciplined unit testing.
  • Coordinate update releases and system changes, contributing to break/fix solutions and updating documentation as needed.
  • Collaborate across a matrix management environment with OIT and CSP department staff.
  • Assist in the creation of estimates and timelines in collaboration with Business Analysts, Customers, and Project Managers.
  • Handle simultaneous requests of varying complexity from within OIT.
  • Adhere to Change Management policies and protocols established by OIT.
  • Provide technical support to CDPS, including follow-up on resolved tickets for customer satisfaction.
  • Support hardware and software issues over the phone, in person, and remotely.
  • Deploy new or rebuilt computers and technology equipment based on OIT and agency policies.
  • Research answers for end-users and assist with training and guidance.
  • Collaborate with Network, Application, Database, and Server teams to resolve issues during system upgrades and outages.
  • Document system architecture in Visio, Word, and Excel.
  • Track hardware and software assets using established tools.
  • Ensure systems are patched and updated in accordance with OIT policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • Three years of professional experience in Deskside Services support and Systems Administration in an Enterprise Environment.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, standards, coding best practices, and debugging procedures.
  • Experience with SQL server and Oracle databases, and familiarity with SQL, PL/SQL, or T-SQL.
  • Proficiency in .NET languages, HTML, and Web Architecture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting Public Safety Applications, Law Enforcement, and Records.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Office, Windows 10, and Active Directory.
  • Experience with Web design using Google Sites.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with customers and IT teams.
  • Operational experience in configuring, deploying, and managing desktops, laptops, and tablets in a network infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of ticket-based incident support systems.
