About The Position

As a Network Engineer IV at Spectrum, you will play a crucial role in leading the planning, implementation, and enhancement of complex network systems. This position involves designing corporate standards, developing network enhancements, and ensuring high availability and fault tolerance of network infrastructure. You will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate closely with architects and engineers to implement new technologies, all while focusing on delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of data network experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of data networking (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry specifications and standards (IEEE, ANSI, Fiber, Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet, Transport technologies).
  • In-depth knowledge of firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Check Point).
  • Experience with security certification standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation in testing.
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and performance tuning.

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Juniper Network Certified Specialist (JNCIS or JNCIP) certification.
  • Industry and vendor-specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for high complexity network systems.
  • Design and establish corporate standards for network systems.
  • Develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Lead the implementation of approved network architecture and designs.
  • Mentor and train other engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems.
  • Plan, design, and execute certification testing for various firewall platforms and configurations.
  • Develop, run, and maintain automated testing frameworks for consistent firewall performance and security evaluations.
  • Analyze and document results to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with security teams to validate firewall rule sets, IDS/IPS, and traffic flow.
  • Stay updated with evolving firewall technologies and implement enhancements in testing processes.
  • Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing, and terms of delivery to ensure project completion with high quality on time and within budget.
