About The Position

The Network Engineer - Wireless is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of complex data networks, ensuring efficient communication services. This role involves maintaining network configurations, collaborating with engineering teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The engineer will also focus on network security, documentation, and customer support while staying updated with emerging technologies in telecommunications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data entry or network engineering within the telecommunications industry.
  • Familiarity with Verizon's Core Network Design (CND) systems and workflows.
  • Proficiency in using the XNG platform for network data management.
  • Proficiency in using the Verizon FUZE platform for data management.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and subnetting.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications protocols like SIP, MPLS, and VoIP is beneficial.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving network issues.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with colleagues, vendors, and clients.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain telecommunications networks for voice, data, and video traffic.
  • Input, update, and maintain network configuration and inventory data within the Verizon FUZE platform.
  • Validate and verify data accuracy, ensuring alignment with Verizon CND standards and protocols.
  • Generate and update detailed reports on network design and inventory changes.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data from various network systems into the XNG platform.
  • Identify and troubleshoot discrepancies between physical network inventory and digital records.
  • Deploy network infrastructure according to design specifications, including configuring hardware and installing software.
  • Monitor network performance, diagnose and resolve issues, and implement upgrades as needed.
  • Implement security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and access controls to protect network integrity.
  • Work closely with software developers, system administrators, and customer support for seamless integration of network services.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, conducting regular audits of network records.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams for network-related issues.
  • Commit to ongoing learning and skills development to stay updated with technological advancements.
