About The Position

The Network Engineer position at ManTech involves supporting the Marine Corps Systems Command by providing operations and maintenance support for IT infrastructure across various networks and security domains. The role requires a strong focus on security and information assurance, as well as the ability to manage and troubleshoot network systems effectively. The engineer will be responsible for documentation, network configuration, and disaster recovery planning, while also interfacing with vendors and coordinating major network initiatives.

Requirements

  • Meet DoD 8570 requirements, must have and maintain, at a minimum, active Security + CE and associate level or higher Network certification.
  • At least 7 years of related Network Engineering experience.
  • Must patch and implement security controls in response to IAVAs and OPDIRs on respective network systems.
  • Strong TCP/IP foundation.
  • BGP, QoS, and Multicast knowledge.
  • SNMPv3 and network monitoring software experience.
  • Working knowledge of network standards/protocols/security, hardware, and application virtualization.
  • Working knowledge of local area and wide area networking principles and concepts including bandwidth management.
  • Experience with Juniper Operating System (JUNOS) and/or CISCO IOS.
  • Working knowledge of the Windows and/or Linux Operating systems to include Server and Workstation environments.
  • Hands-on experience with network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, firewalls, servers, transmission media, and related hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with network systems design, development, testing, installation, operations, management, and maintenance concepts and methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of standard DoD and Marine Corps concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Support to tactical SATCOM programs.
  • Familiarity with Load Balancers (hardware and software).
  • Network Security Appliances to include Type1 encryption devices.
  • Familiarity with Cloud (AWS, Azure).
  • Video Teleconference (VTC), Desktop VTC, and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) integration and management.
  • WAN technologies, protocols, and optimizers.
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server, Linux OS, Networks, MS Exchange, MS Lync, MS SQL Server, SCCM, SCOM, Service Manager, Networked Printers/Services, Distributed File Services, Data Protection Manager, MS SharePoint, PowerShell, JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of DoD STIGs related to the applicable technologies and how to implement, mitigate, and write POAM statements.

Responsibilities

  • Operations and Maintenance Tier I-III Support for IT Infrastructure across multiple networks and security domains.
  • Security/Information Assurance response to potential Vulnerabilities related to IAVAs and OPDIRs.
  • Brief leadership on the health of systems, individual and/or enterprise.
  • Update/Create documentation as needed (user guides, admin guides, knowledge base articles, FAQs, quick reference guides).
  • Set-up, configuration, and support of internal and external networks.
  • Identifying and analyzing systems requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining system applications, security, and maintaining network configurations.
  • Setting up IP schemas for multi-tenant environments.
  • Configuring physical and virtual switching, routing, and firewall protocols, ports, and services.
  • Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
  • Interface with vendors to address problem escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
  • Plans and coordinates major computer network initiatives.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends new computer network equipment and technologies.
  • Utilizes monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software, and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity.
  • Devises solutions to complex operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment.
  • Develops and executes contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages.
