About the position

The New Business Coordinator at EM Benefits will play a crucial role in maintaining broker relations and servicing new accounts within a collaborative team environment. This position involves processing submissions to underwriting, managing membership transactions, and providing exceptional customer service to clients, brokers, and marketing representatives. The coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and effective communication throughout the new business process.

Responsibilities

  • Process and follow-up on new business submissions.
  • Maintain workflow to meet the goals established by management.
  • Coordinate submissions and underwriting decisions with marketing representatives and brokers/clients.
  • Prepare new business quotes for submission to the carrier.
  • Responsible for broker/client acceptance/declination of all cases once the underwriting process is completed.
  • Pursue and develop good working relationships with underwriting and broker/client.
  • Maintain and service existing clients (brokers, groups, and members) by providing guidance on issues that arise.
  • Verify and process applications in accordance with established procedures to ensure accurate billings.
  • Obtain necessary information for enrollment to maintain accurate membership records and provide confirmations in writing to clients on new additions and changed memberships.
  • Communicate any unusual situations to marketing representatives that develop with brokers or clients.
  • Conduct applicable in-person or virtual employee benefit meetings as requested.
  • Work together as a team with the Marketing Representative and Team Lead to assist brokers and clients.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of group health insurance and/or employee benefits experience required.
  • Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office or similar software, including spreadsheet and presentation software required.
  • Must be market/marketing savvy.
  • Excellent phone personality and ability to deal with people.
  • Must be team-oriented and work well with others.
  • Must be highly organized and have the ability to prioritize.
