About the position
CUMULUS MEDIA | Dallas has an immediate opening for a News Anchor/Reporter/Producer. The ideal candidate understands story selection, the power of audio and sound, and the ability to grab the listener with compelling, fast-paced storytelling. This role requires a proactive individual who is willing to hit the street and report when needed, showcasing their skills in social media management across platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram. The candidate should have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to contribute immediately to our award-winning news department. We prefer candidates with three to five years of experience in broadcast news, particularly in medium-to-major market environments. At Cumulus Dallas, we feature five brands in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro area, including KTCK 1310/96.7 The Ticket, KPLX 99.5 The Wolf, New Country 96.3, WBAP 820, and 93-3 FM News/Talk, KLIF-AM 570 News and Information. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and voicing news stories, including those outside of the newsroom, and posting news stories on our station websites and social media. They will also handle emergency news and weather during shows and be on call for weather disasters and breaking news. This position may require working overnight or early morning hours, as well as some anchoring duties as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Write and voice news stories including outside of the newsroom.
- Write news stories for the station websites.
- Post new stories on social media.
- Handle emergency news/weather in show; on call for weather disasters/breaking news.
- Perform various news duties as needed, with the potential of working overnight or early morning hours, and some anchoring as necessary.
Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience in medium-to-major market broadcast news.
- Highly organized with excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent on-air delivery.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
- Strong written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of digital and social media.
- Thorough understanding of web posting.
