About the position

The Dispatch Yard Supervisor at G&C Foods is responsible for overseeing the operations of the yard, ensuring efficient equipment flow, and managing a team of Yard Specialists and Dispatch Coordinators. This role is crucial for maintaining safety, efficiency, and high service standards while facilitating communication across departments. The position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to motivate the team and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all nightly functions of the Yard and dispatch.
  • Assist in maintenance needs to support nightly on-time departures.
  • Monitor and track time, attendance, hours, and scheduling including PTO.
  • Create an inspiring team environment with a culture of open communication by listening to team members' feedback and resolving any issues or conflicts.
  • Assist in managing overweight trailers by communicating to sales, warehouse, and transportation team.
  • Collaborate with warehouse team, drivers, VMF, and outside carriers to meet on-time arrival and departure goals.
  • Set clear team goals, delegate tasks appropriately, and monitor team performance and report on metrics.
  • Maintain all equipment and user data within the yard management system (Power Yard).
  • Direct communication with NCR will be necessary.
  • Motivate team members, recognize high performance, and reward accomplishments.
  • Distinguish training needs and provide coaching.
  • Encourage creativity and risk-taking.
  • Ensure all safety regulations are being met/followed.
  • Plan and coordinate the daily incoming/outgoing shipment plan.
  • Collaborate with management and warehouse personnel for disciplinary actions and any other concerns in the department such as staffing needs, errors, equipment needs, scheduling, and safety.
  • Prepare all documentation for employees (ex. Coaching's, written, suspensions, performance evaluations…) based on recent activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid CDL-A license preferred.
  • Knowledge of transportation and shipping procedures.
  • Basic Knowledge of FMCSA / DOT regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership skills: train, motivate, direct the work of others.
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail, meet deadlines and work in a production-driven environment.
  • Ability to plan and conduct effective meetings.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic Knowledge of Excel, Word, E-mail programs and the ability to learn other programs as required.
